Today I received my copy of Alvin Reid's new book hot off the press and just finished reading it cover to cover in one sitting. It's crisp, clear, concise, and compelling! I love the subtitle: "Evangelism the way you were born to do it." Indeed!A few favorite quotes:"Lost people are more amazed at our silence than offended at our message.""It's time to recapture the spirit of the Jesus Movement, to rekindle a passion for Jesus that spills out of hearts of love for God and others, and brings joy to those around us.""As Martin Luther observed, God does not need our good works, but our neighbor does.""The Scriptures are not primarily about morality, but about reality.""Begin to see uncertainty in witnessing as a beautiful part of God's work to grow and shape you as his child.""I want you to try, to risk, and to see God working through you.""In order to share Jesus confidently and consistently with others, first share him confidently and consistently with yourself."And that's only through page 23. :-)Highly recommended!
If you are looking for an in-depth study of the deep theological questions about evangelism, try the author's other book. In the preface, Alvin Reid states, "This book is not a comprehensive look at evangelism like my Evangelism Handbook. Rather, it has the specific focus of helping regular believers, from teenagers to senior adults, from homemakers to pastors, have real conversations with people about Jesus." I just started this book and I love how practical it is. I am using it for our Wed. PM Bible Study. I am finding it to be a great tool to equip the saints to do the work of the ministry. (Eph. 4:11-12) The author even has free video teachings that go along with each chapter turning the book into an eight-week challenge.There are a few things that make me strongly recommend this resource:1) The author stresses that evangelism should become a lifestyle; not a fad like a diet. Sharing Jesus needs to become something we do regularly; not just for eight-weeks.2) The author's philosophy of evangelism is very organic. We need to be having spiritual conversations with people. We need to pray daily that God gives us an opportunity to share Jesus with at least one person. It's not about having a bunch of opening lines memorized with different comebacks for anything the responder has to say to our questions. Those kinds of evangelistic outreaches turn evangelism into making a gospel presentation. The number one fear people have is snakes. The number two fear people have is public speaking. When we turn sharing our faith into doing a gospel presentation (even one-on-one), it scares people because it is a form of public speaking. The author equips believers with very practical ways that we can share Jesus with people in everyday conversations.I fell in love with this book so much, I bought a case of twenty books and made them available to people who aren't coming to the mid-week Bible study. I truly believe you will love this resource too!
Really enjoyed this book by Dr. Reid. It has helped me with evangelism. This book helped me examine how much I truly cared about Jesus and what he done for me. When I allow my love for Christ to become greater than anything else, I will tell others about Him!
This book was fantastic. In my life I have probably read 20-30 books in evangelism. Some were systematic and some were theological. This book is my favorite kind. It is practical. If you want practical encouragement in evangelism read this book from Dr. Reid.

This book encourages friendships rather than ‘pin holing’ people with the gospel. Once a friendship is established, sharing your faith in Christ should be a natural conversation
Alvin layouts practical and easy to follow methods for people to increase how often they witness and how to be more effective in each encounter. The chapters always left me wanting to go tell someone about Jesus Christ using the advice of the latest chapter I read.
Simple. That’s what I love about it. I used this as a reference resource while teaching students about evangelism. I reached out to the author and Dr. Reid responded with more resources to help me out!
